Symptoms

Installing Storefront services on top of an existing Web Interface server breaks the Web Interface site. As a result, users cannot go to the virtual applications and desktops behind the Web Interface.

Requirements

Before moving forward with this fix, please ensure that the current infrastructure supports the Storefront system requirement detailed below:

In addition, you should review the system planning eDocs page listed below:

Resolution

As explained on the planning page above, if the multi-server deployment mode is chosen for Storefront an appropriate load balancing mechanism must be in place. This is managed externally to Web Interface and Storefront.

Once installed, the initial Storefront services must be created and configured. Creating these services affects the way existing Web Interface sites operate and might render them unreachable. This is the case if the default locations for the Web Interface sites have been used (/Citrix/XenApp or /Citrix/PNAgent). However, the web sites can be fixed easily using the IIS Manager console. An example of the corrective action is shown below for a Web Interface site located at /Citrix/XenApp. The corrections must be carried out on all Web Interface sites that use a default location.

  1. Open IIS Manager.

  1. Navigate to a Web Interface site.

  1. Expand the Handler Mappings.

  1. Once expanded, they all appear as Disabled.

  1. To correct the settings, click Edit Feature Permissions and select the read and script checkboxes, then press OK.

The handlers now appear as Enabled and the Web Interface site once again operates as expected.

The above steps must be repeated for each Web Interface site located under the default /Citrix path. The actions must be performed for any subsequent Web Interface site created under the default /Citrix path.
