Open-source distributed database provider to offer insight at July 24-25 event in New York

Norwalk, CT – July 18, 2013 – TMC and Crossfire Media announced today that Basho Technologies has signed on as a Diamond Sponsor for DevCon5, the HTML5 and mobile app developers' conference. The event will be held July 24-25, 2013 at the Kimmel Center in New York City and will focus on the innovative technology, tools and techniques that enterprise, mobile and gaming developers utilize in order to develop HTML pages and apps.

Basho Technologies is the creator and developer of Riak, an open-source distributed database, providing extreme high-availability, fault-tolerance, and operational simplicity, even at scale. Riak has rapidly gained adoption throughout the Fortune 500, including 30 percent of the Fortune 50, and has become foundational to many of the world's fastest-growing Web-based, mobile and social applications.

In addition to sponsoring DevCon5, Basho Lead UI/UX Designer and Developer, Sarah Drasner, will also be presenting on "CSS Animation to Tell a Story." Her talk will focus on how to construct engaging animations with very little to no jQuery. Additionally, she will discuss how she has used advanced HTML5 techniques to tell the story of Riak, an abstract and complex product.

"Basho's business is built on choosing the right tool to do the job, both internally and externally. Erlang was the right choice for Riak and we work with customers to ensure Riak is the right tool for their use case. We are not afraid to experiment with new ideas or techniques, which has helped us become a leader in distributed systems," said Drasner. "At DevCon5, we look forward to showcasing how we have used HTML5 and CSS3 to tell the story of Riak to a broad audience through the creation of a digestible visualization."

"With its exclusive focus on distributed systems software, Basho Technologies has become a clear industry leader and attendees will benefit greatly from their insight," said Carl Ford, CEO of Crossfire Media and executive director of DevCon5 Content and Community. "We look forward to welcoming Basho as a Diamond Sponsor of DevCon5."

DevCon5 is also supported by Diamond Sponsor BlackBerry, Platinum Sponsors Kony and Radware, Gold Sponsors AOL Networks and DreamFactory, Silver Sponsor Xtreme Labs, Analyst Partner ABI Research, Association Partner Mobile Monday New York and wireless industry partners.
