This document is an introduction to Disk Storage technologies and its
terminology. It discusses various different types of storage, focuses on
the ubiquitous storage � the hard disk drive, then discusses how this
type of storage has evolved into a fault-tolerant system of networked
storage. Different terminology is described in some detail, such as
RAID, NAS and SAN, and the different infrastructure needs.
