Andrew Cunningham Apple has just released a minor update for some of its recent MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs that should address "rare issues" in which a laptop's battery abruptly stops working. The MacBook Pro SMC Firmware Update 1.8, the MacBook Pro Retina SMC Update 1.2, and the MacBook Air SMC Update 1.9 all share the same release notes: This update addresses rare issues where the battery unexpectedly stops functioning, the system does not recognize the battery, or the system hangs when the battery charge reaches less than one percent.
