Sharing some encouraging news announced today about the Core Infrastructure Initiative, a program that was born out of the Heartbleed Open SSL crisis and described as "a multi-million dollar project housed at The Linux Foundation to fund open source projects that are in the critical path for core computing functions."

The group's initial charter will be for its members to "evaluate open source projects that are essential to global computing infrastructure and are experiencing under-investment."

We are proud to see Microsoft and several other industry stakeholders have come together to support this challenging and important work.

Read this post from Steve Lipner, Partner Director of Software Security, to learn more about Microsoft's participation in this ground-breaking initiative.

We certainly look forward to seeing where these efforts will lead!
