CumuLogic is pleased to announce a technical preview release of the CumuLogic Database Service Broker for Cloud Foundry. With this integration in place, Cloud Foundry users can now rely on CumuLogic's platform to deliver production-ready database services to their applications.

Supported engines include MySQL, Percona, MongoDB and Couchbase. CumuLogic platform administrators can define service subscription configurations for each of these database engines, including configuration options starting at single node database services, scaling up to advanced replication topologies. This includes the advanced MongoDB shard configuration capabilities of the CumuLogic DBaaS platform. Once these subscription options are created, the Cloud Foundry administrator can selectively expose these new service options to developers.

Why build it?

In short:

  • Applications deserve high quality, production ready, operationally robust databases
  • CumuLogic is the industry leading multi-engine "on-premise" DBaaS platform
  • Cloud Foundry is an industry leader for Private PaaS

We found the idea of combining these two powerful platforms to be very powerful for our customers, and are excited about the new possibilities that this opens up for the enterprise. Databases are the lifeblood of any application, and while stand-alone public cloud-based DBaaS solutions are compelling in concept, they fall short for most enterprise application needs. Data governance and data locality play a huge role in deciding where to deploy your databases, and that makes it all the more important to offer the same level of service to your local application deployments.

With the combination of CumuLogic and Cloud Foundry, enterprises will be empowering their application teams with the agility and operational maintainability they need to feel confident.

Overview Video

We have recorded a screen-cast that can explain the integration's value, and how the two platforms work together architecturally.

How to Contribute

The CumuLogic Database Service Broker for Cloud Foundry is being made available to users of the CumuLogic platform as an open source project on GitHub, licensed via the Apache Software License Version 2. While there are some limitations in place today, we welcome contributions from our user community. We are also looking forward to working with the rest of the Cloud Foundry community on the continued refinement of this integration.
