Basho Events in July
// Basho

This month features developer and open source conferences, and a SQL meetup. Here's a look at where Basho will be the next few weeks.

MidWest.io: MidWest.io in Kansas City, MO brings together developers for two days of talks focused on the latest trends, best practices and research in the field of computing. It's a great opportunity to connect with other developers and Basho's own John Daily will be presenting at the conference.

Join John's session, Erlang, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Let Things Fail, which will explore the unique features of Erlang, going beyond just syntax, diving deeper into Erlang Weltanschauung. With his 15 years of experience in the software industry, John will provide insights on Erlang, and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of other language tools. His talk will be on Monday, July 14 at 3 p.m. CT.

SQL NYC Meetup: On Monday, July 14, at 6:30 p.m. ET Basho is hosting a SQL NYC Meetup, Throw Some Keys on It: Learn Data Modeling for Key/Value Data Stores. We will discuss how to model data to meet latency, scale and high-availability requirements, using a high volume use-case of a mobile app that connects drivers with vehicles for hire and coordinates ridesharing services.

Meetup attendees will discover the benefits of key/value data-storage and understand ways it may be a better fit than a traditional relational database. We'll also have beer, snacks and swag, so don't miss it! The meetup will be held at Gibney Dance – 5th floor, studio 4 in Union Square.

OSCON: O'Reilly's Open Source Convention is the only event that covers the open source ecosystem in its entirety. Basho will be attending, so tweet to us @basho and we can meet to say hi! OSCON will be July 20-24 in Portland, OR.
