Congratulations to our Partners: Eucalyptus and HP
// Build AWS-compatible Private Clouds with CumuLogic

In case you haven't heard the news, our friends at Eucalyptus are being acquired by another of our partners: HP, and Marten Mikos will be taking the helm of HP's cloud business. We see this is a validation that both hybrid cloud and AWS compatibility are critical components for enterprise cloud adoption.

The team at Eucalyptus has consistently delivered on their goal of enabling private clouds to easily mimic Amazon Web Services, the clear leader in public cloud services. It's a focus that goes all the way back to the founding of their company, and even before that when the idea started as a research project at the Computer Science Center of the University of California Santa Barbara. The Eucalyptus team has even won awards by demonstrating exactly how well they've been able to replicate the AWS experience.

Eucalyptus has done amazing work on the IaaS aspects of AWS, and CumuLogic is a partner that helps organizations add critical database services to the environment. As we've shared before, DBaaS is increasingly becoming a "must-have" that developers look for in a cloud environment. The CumuLogic DBaaS Platform was designed specifically to let companies quickly offer an AWS RDS style DBaaS on any IaaS environment, public or private. Our software is able to easily integrate with Eucalyptus (and other) IaaS platforms, and can even expose the AWS RDS API to users.

While the specifics of the integration between HP and Eucalyptus products and strategies are still being worked out, we're looking forward to seeing how the ambition to bring AWS compatibility to the HP Helion turns out.

To Marten, and the entire Eucalyptus team, congratulations.
