Companies Strengthen Strategic Relationship with Rackspace Joining Chef's New Partner Certification Program to Extend Collaborative Go-to-Market and Training Efforts

SEATTLE and SANTA CLARA, Calif. – April 1, 2015 – Today at ChefConf 2015, Chef, the leader in automation for DevOps, announced that Rackspace, a leader in managed cloud, has joined the company's new Partner Certification Program (see separate release), extending the companies' ongoing collaboration with new go-to-market and training engagements. Over the past two years, Rackspace has been a major contributor to the Chef community and uses Chef Enterprise to automate its managed cloud offering for the Rackspace DevOps Automation Service, a dedicated service offering rapid and successful adoption of DevOps best practices.

"Rackspace and Chef have been working together for years to empower the best DevOps patterns and practices for our customers. It's exciting to have Rackspace join our new Partner Certification Program as we continue to bring DevOps into the mainstream," said Ken Cheney, vice president of business development, Chef.

Chef's Partner Certification Program empowers the company's rapidly growing partner ecosystem with engineering, training, and content resources to certify Chef partners for best supporting Chef deployments in the field.

"We are thrilled to announce a deeper strategic relationship with Chef. There is a significant need for DevOps skills and this relationship establishes Rackspace as a premier, trusted thought leader for Chef expertise and best practices. Rackspace DevOps Automation gives our customers 24/7 access to a team of DevOps specialists that can rapidly automate application environments by treating infrastructure like code and helps them realize the immense benefits of adopting DevOps principles in this fast moving cloud era, " said Prashanth Chandrasekar, GM, Rackspace DevOps.

Rackspace DevOps Automation Service enables developers and IT departments to accelerate time to market for their products and features by allowing them to deploy, scale and test new configurations in hours rather than days. Omaze, a Rackspace DevOps Automation customer, recognized the high value DevOps and Chef expertise that Rackspace provides to the company. Omaze offers once-in-a-lifetime experiences that support social missions and charitable causes —a disruptive business model that changes the way we think about the giving space, and one that leverages Rackspace DevOps and the cloud to predictably scale its environments with high consistency and performance.

Chef and Rackspace will continue working on a range of skill-building and service programs, including engineering collaboration, DevOps implementation content and training for Rackspace technical support staff. By leveraging Rackspace for DevOps and Chef expertise, customers can utilize DevOps engineers to deploy, manage and support all of their environments 24x7x365, so they can focus on the activities that grow their business.
