#Cloud Leaders of Tomorrow

Cloud Leaders of Tomorrow: We’re starting a new series of articles here called ‘Cloud Leaders of Tomorrow‘ – The objective of which is to showcase the movers and shakers of the Canadian Cloud industry.
Our first profile is Kevin Crowe, Director Cloud Services for Long View, and this is a perfect start because within our overall theme of growing Canada to be a world leader in the field of Cloud, they are a shining example.
Not only is Longview pioneering Canadian-based Cloud services for Canadian customers, but they are also expanding aggressively into the USA market too.
Quite simply if Canada wants to be a world leader in this field then Canadian players need to be expanding globally, however equally the Canadian market has also been underserved by locally hosted services and so checking both boxes is key.

Cloud Computing: A Comparison of Computing Models | Cloud Computing Journal

Cloud Computing: A Comparison of Computing Models | Cloud Computing Journal

Cloud Computing: A Comparison of Computing Models
— A simple definition of cloud computing is that it's a unique storage service that involves storage of data and software. With cloud computing, the person or company who enjoys the service is not fully aware of the location, storage facilities or configuration of the system used to offer the storage services. A good analogy to explain this concept is the regular power grid that supplies power to homes and businesses. The end user who enjoys the services is hardly aware of all the power generation and distribution devices and components used to deliver the service.
Since its introduction, cloud computing has evolved through several stages like virtualization computing to autonomic utility form of cloud computing. It has also evolved from service-oriented architecture.

Leveraging the Cloud and Managed Services to Solve MDM Challenges

Leveraging the Cloud and Managed Services to Solve MDM Challenges — With the explosion of smartphones and mobile devices in the enterprise, mobile device management (MDM) has become one of the biggest challenges for IT departments. As a company grows and expands globally, the issues surrounding MDM only become more complicated. A well-thought-out strategic approach to managing the growing diversity of mobile devices, applications, and operating systems is crucial, particularly for multinational companies with operations spread around the globe and potentially thousands of employees connecting to the corporate network via mobile devices. Earlier this year industry researcher Gartner reported nearly 430 million mobile communication devices were sold worldwide in the first quarter of 2011, an almost 20 percent increase year-over -year. This number will increase in 2012 as more smartphones are issued to employees and more employee-owned personal mobile devices connect with corporate servers and networks. Whether corporate-issued or employee-owned, the benefits of mobile devices to businesses are clear: without being tied to the office and armed with the ability to work on-the-go, employees can significantly increase productivity.
