6 Reasons to Submit a Talk for ChefConf 2016
// Chef Blog

Whether you've attended yourself, or have been told by a friend, you know ChefConf is rad. What makes it even better? Presenting.

Give back to the Community you love, help others overcome challenges, get feedback and validation for your ideas, heck, do it for the glory. Speaking at ChefConf not only enriches the show experience for others, but for you as well, bringing you to the forefront of the DevOps movement (or pretty close to it).

To further convince you to submit a proposal for a ChefConf session, here are the top six reasons to do exactly that:

6. Give back to the community by sharing your journey.

The content of these sessions is designed by the community for the community. You might consider submitting a topic meant for people who are getting started with Chef. Include technical tips and tricks, organizational hacks, and advice on how you and your organization have embraced Chef.

5. Everyone appreciates a great story.

Whether you call it "DevOps," "automation," or something else, you're probably changing the way you work. We'd love to hear about both the successes and the pitfalls you've encountered along the way.

4. Fame and fortune. You'll be famous on the Internet (or at least the Chef YouTube channel).

We like to record all presentations and share them for free online. Check out our ChefConf 2015 playlist to see who presented last year and get inspiration for your talk this year.

3. Speaker-only swag and a free pass for you so you can bring along a co-worker.

Presenters receive complimentary admission to ChefConf 2016 and an invitation to attend our speaker reception on Monday, July 11. You'll also receive custom swag for speakers only.

2. Be treated like a celebrity.

Rumor has it that in years past the speaker green-room has been stocked with bacon and bourbon among other indulgences. We cannot confirm or deny this.

1. Hugs

ChefConf is the annual get together and celebration that's attended by members of the Chef community. It's akin to a massive family reunion, bringing together a vibrant and passionate army of IT practitioners and business leaders whose jobs and companies have been fundamentally transformed through Chef and the DevOps movement.

Call for Presentations is open now through 11:59 PM PST on March 13th. Submit a Talk
