ChefConf Talk Spotlight: "Entering the Chef Ecosystem from a Windows Background"
// Chef Blog
Hopefully by now you've all seen the ChefConf session guide and are as pumped for the show as we are. If you haven't already registered, you still have until Wed., 2/4, to take advantage of early bird ticket prices.
With housekeeping out of the way, let's spend the rest of this post highlighting one of the many awesome talks you'll be able to attend at this year's show. Come back here to the Chef blog frequently for spotlights on other sessions, pre-day workshops, after-hours events, and more.
This first spotlight focuses on our friend Matt Wrock, a software engineer at CenturyLink Cloud, who we've profiled in the past, including this tremendous "how to" blog on Windows automation testing using Chef, Vagrant, and Test Kitchen. At ChefConf 2015 Matt will present, "Entering the Chef Ecosystem from a Windows background". Here's what Matt had to say about this session:
I'm an automation junkie who has lived in the Windows world for the majority of my career. For the past year, I've been writing Chef-based build and orchestration code and hacking on some open source automation projects. Things are different. A lot of it good and some is just hard. This session will focus on how to best approach a new world of technology and provide opportunities to share like experiences transitioning to different tool sets.
So, if you're:
New to Chef or the Chef community
Exploring other new technologies and their communities
Looking to spread new technologies or practices within your organization
Looking to level up your skill set with new tools and ideas
Then this session is most definitely for you.
As for Matt himself, he's a big Chef contributor – as well as Vagrant, Test Kitchen, Pester, the ruby winrm gem, Chocolatey and more – with more than fifteen years of experience developing distributed, high-traffic web applications . His current role at CenturyLink Cloud is all about data center automation.
Matt's dynamic session is just one of the many reasons to join us at ChefConf in Santa Clara, CA, March 31-April 2!
